We were tasked with the exciting challenge of designing the interiors and technological infrastructure for a school that integrates five different educational approaches and is divided into three age groups: Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary.

We came up with the idea to divide the school blocks into different “worlds”, each with its own distinctive features. The overall concept is called Worlds of Wonder and includes seven “worlds”: Underwater World, Fields of Ideas, Dreamers’ Lake, Forest of Reflections, Tree of Wisdom Square, Martian Mountain, and Space.

Each world corresponds to a specific pedagogy, functional zone, or age group. The unifying theme of the entire concept is nature, a common ground for all pedagogical approaches. Through interior design, we immerse students in these imaginative environments, offering a rich palette of diverse experiences.

Underwater World

This zone houses the IB school, including both standard and specialized classrooms, as well as dining areas for the primary, middle, and secondary schools.

The middle and secondary dining area is divided into several zones, each telling a part of the underwater story. The central area, shown in the visualization, reflects the image of the ocean floor with vibrant underwater creatures as color accents.

Fields of Ideas

This space combines two pedagogies — Montessori and Reggio.

The visualization shows a Montessori classroom for kindergarten and primary school. To evoke the feeling of a summer field, we introduced natural colors and forms into a bright, neutral interior. Our goal was to create the atmosphere of a warm summer day without overwhelming the space. Like other classrooms, this one is designed to be easily reconfigured by the teacher for different activities.

Dreamers’ Lake

This zone is dedicated to the IB kindergarten and primary school. The space was designed with young children's need for constant movement in mind, as well as easy access to play materials and books. The classroom layout fosters independence and self-directed activity.

Tree of Wisdom Square

This central zone includes the school's administrative offices, specialized classrooms (such as the culinary lab and a multipurpose hall). The image of the tree appears throughout the design concept, but it is most prominent in this area. We used extensive wood textures in the interior finishes. The tree bark motif is also reflected in the pattern of the exterior glazing.

The teacher’s lounge is a space where educators spend a significant amount of time. We designed it as a cozy, informal environment — not just with workspaces, but with areas that encourage communication, experience sharing, and collaboration. Warm tones referencing foliage throughout the seasons, wood-like textures, and an abundance of greenery help teachers relax and recharge between lessons.

Martian Mountain

The school’s sports complex is located at the highest point of the site and is thus called Martian Mountain. The design references Martian landscapes.

The complex includes a swimming pool, a multifunctional sports and theater hall, a martial arts studio, a fitness gym, changing rooms, and outdoor sports fields on the roof. For the interiors, we used sandy tones, flowing shapes, and organic lines. Dynamic lighting and color scenarios create not only comfort but also a distinctive and immersive atmosphere.

We positively impact the world by instilling a love of lifelong learning in every child and within the broader community, allowing them to develop their unique potential. We prepare our students to become confident, capable, and responsible global citizens who understand, respect, and celebrate diversity.

Space

This theme unites the block of specialized classrooms for middle and high school, including:

FabLabs (maker spaces)

Science labs

Art rooms and more

The interiors immerse students in the world of a spacecraft, conveying a spirit of innovation and a forward-looking mindset.

The Island Private School is a unique educational ecosystem and we have developed an equally unique environment to support and reflect it.
