Our task was to design the landscape and outdoor amenity zones for a kindergarten, primary, middle, and secondary school, as well as to position the Sports and Wellness Complex within the site.

To achieve this, multifunctionality was embedded into the spatial concept, significantly increasing the efficiency of the outdoor areas. All architectural solutions were adapted to local climatic conditions. We introduced cantilevered canopies for the Sports and Wellness Complex, added greenery to the façade, and proposed areas with green canopies, created a covered waiting area at the security checkpoint, and installed canopies and water play zones in all play areas.

A defining feature of the project is the creation of the “School-as-a-Garden” concept, which addresses not only landscaping but also the façade of the existing building. In this climate, it is especially important to create a comfortable outdoor environment, as children will spend most of the day outside. The project can rightfully be described as “green.”

Combined Preschool and Primary School Playgrounds

An important and challenging task was to design all playgrounds with careful consideration of sound zoning to ensure a higher level of spatial comfort. As a result, the school playgrounds are suitable for neurodiverse children of all ages. For example, children need designated “quiet zones” within playgrounds with clearly defined rules of behaviour.

Middle and High School Playgrounds

The architectural solutions developed for the Sports and Wellness Complex help reduce air-conditioning costs. In addition, an amphitheatre was proposed to be integrated into the Sports Complex and located next to the stadium, allowing events to be held at the stadium with spectators and enabling the Sports Complex to be rented out when needed.

Sports and Wellness Complex

We designed not only what was required in the original brief, but also created additional zones that were not included in the initial scope: covered pergolas for outdoor classes, a quiet area suitable for open lessons, group reading, and meditation, an amphitheater zone, and a fair area near the entrance that forms part of the park and functions as an outdoor café in everyday use. Visitor and user flows were separated, which is particularly important for preschool and primary school.
